Mr Orji and his co-defendants were arraigned before Justice Lilian Abai, who read the 16 money laundering charges against them.
Mr Erondu said at no time did he give money to any legislator nor engage anyone “to obtain the buy-in of members of the assembly” on his behalf.
The legislators claimed there were a “plethora of petitions” concerning the auditor general’s report and financial statement of accounts of the state government.
Abia House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended deputy speaker Ifeanyi Uchendu and eight other members over the purported impeachment of the speaker, Chinedum Orji.
Mr Orji, son of the former Governor Theodore Orji, lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Obi Aguocha.
“I’m confident that it will soon be assented to by the governor and implemented in order to give persons with disabilities a sense of belonging.”
Reasons for their attempted removal, it was gathered, may not be unconnected with incompetence.
