Mr Maiyaki said the directive also grants universities and research institutions the autonomy to operate their endowment fund accounts in commercial banks.

Mr Maiyaki said institutions that do not meet minimum academic standards and the resource assessment benchmarks would be denied accreditation.
Mr Maiyaki explained that a committee was set up to stamp out illegal institutions nationwide.
Mr Maiyaki said CCMAS would make up 70 per cent of the curriculum while the university decides what to include in the remaining 30 per cent.
The Bells vice-chancellor said the university would organise online lectures during the break.
The meeting is to deliberate on solutions to the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
