The Independent National Electoral Commission has hailed the recent surge in Continuous Voter Registration across its registration centres in Enugu.
The REC said that the commission would be conducting training for various levels of officials for the by-election on Friday.
Mr Chukwu emphasised that possession of a valid PVC is essential for participation in the elections.
Voters converged in the affected polling units as early as 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, but no INEC official was seen at the venue.
“Consequently, I was inducted into the 8th Assembly of Enugu State with certificate of return issued to me by INEC.”
“We encourage all eligible voters involved to come out en mass to exercise their franchise as we have security men well on ground,” he said.
“This is why the committee members and heads of security agencies should give glory to God for being with us in the state.”
“Once we load sensitive materials, the trucks accompanied by security and INEC officials will get the election result sheets from the Central Bank of Nigeria.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it requires at least 13,000 security operatives for the general elections in Enugu.
INEC says gunmen have attacked its office in Enugu South local council 39 days before the February and March elections.
