Mr Rafsanjani said higher taxes would increase prices and discourage consumption.
Mr Rafsanjani explained that corruption in the banking sector has also enabled money laundering and terrorism financing.
In a statement on Friday, Auwal Rafsanjani, CISLAC executive director, condemned the hijacking of the peaceful protest in some places.
