Wildlife trafficking fuelling organised crime, stakeholders warn
Joseph Ntui, conservator of the Cross River National Park, Akamkpa, said this during an interview at Akamkpa, Cross River.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Environment, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria, and the National Park Service.
He noted that illegal mining in Cross River was becoming a challenge.
The Cross River gorillas live in the mountainous region between Nigeria and Cameroon and it’s Africa’s most endangered ape species.
“Accordingly, we demand the immediate revocation of the mining lease granted the two companies.”
