Nigerian police came under huge public criticism for arresting and failing to charge Mr Ojukwu to court throughout his 10 days behind bars.
The police secretly arrested Mr Ojukwu and kept him behind bars on May 1 over a story exposing corruption.
The force spokesperson said Mr Ojukwu by his story violated the Cybercrime Prohibition Act 2015 and other extant laws of the land.
“They are denying lawyers access to him as well.”
The New York-based media rights think-tank urged Nigerian authorities to do more for press autonomy.
Police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed to journalists that Mr Ojukwu, who went missing on May 1, was arrested by officers of the cybercrime centre.
