On Sunday, CBN governor Godwin Emefiele announced a new deadline of February 10, with an additional seven days grace period for deposits.
Governor Aminu Masari’s government has declared Thursday and Friday as a holiday for Katsina workers to receive President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It is an opportunity to reflect on the past year, reposition, and move forward in the new year,” Mr Buhari said.
He added: “I will be in Daura, which is on the border with Niger Republic and I think in spite of technology, I will be safe enough there.”
The vice president made this statement on Friday while proposing a toast during Mr Buhari’s 80th birthday dinner at the State House Banquet Hall.
The policy, which will become effective on January 9, 2023, has attracted criticism.
“We don’t even need Tinubu to come to Katsina. Look at what he did in Lagos. Look at his network across the country.”
Mr Emefiele made this disclosure just as the House of Representatives ordered the apex bank to halt the policy’s implementation.
The minister of interior, however, said that details of the investigation would not be made public, “as it is still a security document”.
The appearance of even a glimmer of prosperity in people activates Buhari’s sadistic instincts.
