DRTS’ head of operations, Deborah Osho, said in Abuja on Friday that the vehicles were impounded during routine operations to rid the city of illegal taxi operators.
The DRTS says crushing impounded commercial motorcycles remained the best option to address their menace in the territory.
Ms Osho said that the operation was in line with the law that banned the operation of commercial motorcycles in the city.
He said that the area was characterised by all kinds of illegal activities.
The demolition started with Area 3 and Banex Junction Taxi Ranks in Abuja on Friday.
They urged security agencies and the FCT Administration to take urgent measures to save residents from the criminals.

According to Mr Olumuji, the FCTA, through the clean-up operation, is busting all hideouts to rid the capital territory of criminals.
