NCDC Director-General, Chikwe Ihekweazu, has been appointed as the World Health Organisation’s assistant director-general of Health Emergency Intelligence.
Ten additional COVID-19 related deaths were also recorded on August 27, 2021, increasing the nation’s fatalities to 2,308.
Meanwhile, Nigeria on Thursday recorded 558 new COVID-19 infections in 15 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with two deaths.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 404 COVID-19 infections, the highest in four months.
“The virus is spreading fast, causing mild symptoms in some and severe illness/death in others,” he said.
