The minority leader said the abrupt hike would burden the already strained populace, exacerbating economic hardship.
Mr Adelabu bemoaned the rising cases of vandalism of power assets across the country.
He said that the issue of power infrastructure vandalism and theft was one of the sector’s current problems.
Mr Abdullah said the highest number of complaints received by FCCPC was on the power sector.
“The ministry expects power supply to have improved across the country, as opposed to the current experience in some regions.”
This followed the adoption of a motion on Complaints on Metering Customers by Uchenna Okonkwo (LP-Anambra) at a plenary in Abuja.
The review revealed multiple instances of discrepancies and non-compliance with monthly energy caps set by NERC.
The NBS stated that on a year-on-year basis, estimated customers increased by 2.02 per cent in Q3 2023.
