Mr Idris said outbreaks were largely driven by serogroup C, which had replaced serogroup A.
Mr Idris described as the growing Lassa fever infections among healthcare workers as worrisome.
The DG stressed the importance of early presentation to health facilities to reduce fatalities.
Mr Idris outlined key preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease.
The states most affected by cholera outbreak include Lagos, Bayelsa, Zamfara, Abia, Cross River, Bauchi, Delta, Katsina, Imo and Nasarawa.
“We are recording some new cases in previously unaffected local government areas.’’
“At this time in our country, this is when we need the Red Cross the most.”
