Mr Uba directed the students to resume academic activities on June 15.
Mr Okoye said that the operation was conducted by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, led by ACP Oladimeji Odeyeyiwa.
The CP urged the command’s operatives to discharge their lawful duties professionally.
“In spite of formal notifications, over 100 police personnel were sent from Owerri to block the venue. They have started again,” Mr Ugochinyere said.
Mr Okoye further stated that there was a brief chase after the suspects spotted the police team.
Mr Okoye reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of all residents.
The police command in Imo has launched a manhunt for the killers of a yet-to-be-identified man, who was killed while inspecting his newly purchased land on Sunday.
He urged anyone with useful information to promptly notify the police.
