The Ebonyi Police Command said it had increased patrol visibility around learning institutions and dedicated hotlines for school emergencies.
Out of the 1,270 suspects, 38 were involved in rape and defilement, 120 in murder and homicide.
Joshua Ukandu, the police spokesperson in Ebonyi, said operatives had commenced an investigation for the possible arrest of the people behind the killing.
The police spokesperson said that the corpse was found along Onogoro Street leading to the international market.
The incident happened at Etim community in Etim Edda Local Government of the state.
The police spokesperson said apart from 92 other suspects would be arraigned once investigations were complete.
DSP Joshua Ukandu, the state police public relations officer, told journalists on Wednesday in Abakaliki that the incident occurred on Tuesday night.
The police spokesperson described the incident as “very unfortunate.”
Mr Ukandu said the attack occurred in the early hours of Friday in the area.
The police command in Ebonyi has deployed its officers and men to boost security ahead of Saturday’s local government elections.
