Troops from the 82 Division Garrison and Sector 1 of Operation UDO KA in conjunction with operatives of the State Security Service carried out the operation.
According to him, in spite of the attack, troops maintained operational dominance.
Mr Unukhalu said the attack occurred at a checkpoint along Umuahia-Owerri Road in the Umuahia South Local Government of Abia
Mr Unuakhalu said that the raid was conducted on Thursday and Friday to clear the notorious camp.
“Troops also apprehended four male and two female fighters during the operation,” the army said.
“As officers and men of the command, you must respect the highest standards of fundamental human rights and the rule of law.”
He said the strikes at both locations achieved their intended outcome and were deemed effective.
“So my prayer to Mr President is that he should give him (Kanu) to us as a gift.”
The House of Representatives ad hoc committee says insecurity is threatening the existence of the South-East region.
