The returning officer said the suspension, which took effect immediately, will last until 5:00 p.m., when collation is expected to resume.

Mr Yakubu urged political parties in the state to maintain decorum and civility in their campaigns and comply with the commission’s regulations.

He said violence would not give any politician or political party any advantage in the election.

Mr Ighodalo restated his firm belief that Edo’s strength was the unity of its people.
