He said the troops had launched a three-prong operation on Jan. 16 aimed at dismantling the terrorist within the triangle.
The DHQ said troops also rescued 291 hostages, arrested 51 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen crude worth N798.1 million.
”Troops also arrested 45 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 152 kidnapped hostages,” said the DHQ.
The Nigerian military said it killed 2,245 terrorists and apprehended 3,682 terrorists and criminal elements between April and June.
“But at this time, we do not have a report of the death of Bello Turji and Halilu,” he said.
While reading the brief’s text, Mr Buba said the EFCC and ICPC played a significant role in maintaining law and order through their anti-corruption initiatives.
Mr Buba said the troops also rescued 4,641 hostages, while 1,437 suspected oil thieves were apprehended within the period under review.
Mr Buba said the military would be fierce in its reprisal and would bring military pressure on IPOB to ensure their total defeat.
Eighty-five civilians were on December 3, 2023, mistakenly killed in military drone attacks in Tudun Biri, Igabi LGA.
“Our security situation is self-inflicted. The military recognise that there is still a challenging and tough war campaign ahead,” the DHQ stated.
