The NSCDC deployed no fewer than 9,747 personnel for the Ekiti governorship election which was fraught with allegations of vote trading.
“The military is trained for war, not for election purposes. I pray that the time will come where the military will not intervene in the election process.”
“So far, the whole exercise has been peaceful and credible.. but there have been few problems here or there,” Adeniyi Adebayo said.
Though there are 16 political party candidates for Saturday’s election, the quest for the top job in the state has been dubbed a two-horse race.
Mr Oni added that those he described as “oppressors” should not be allowed to set the state on fire.
The organisation lamented how politicians have continued to prioritise vote-buying instead of embracing issue-based campaigns, ahead of the poll.
Scores of Labour Party (LP) members, including the chairman, in Ekiti defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday at Ado-Ekiti.
