The police command in Ekiti on Wednesday said it arrested seven people for burglarising a warehouse in Ado-Ekiti.
“Set up was done promptly and polls commenced before 9:00 a.m., in at least 88 per cent of the locations,” the group, made up of over 70 CSOs, said.
The senators said the electronic transfer of votes would stamp out the fears of result tampering at collation centres.
The NSCDC acting Deputy Commandant-General, Haruna Muhammad, said that voter turnout was impressive and without chaos.
Mr Kolawole scored 98 votes to beat the candidate of the APC, Biodun Oyebanji, who garnered 13 votes.
A source told The Gazette that the polling unit was one of the strongholds of the opposition Action Democratic Party (ADP).
The ADP candidate said it was difficult for her to convince the electorates to vote for the candidate of their choice and not collect the money.
The ADC candidate, Wole Oluyede, said the election was “opaque and vulnerable to manipulation and characterised by many problems”.
Peoples Gazette had earlier reported how EFCC operatives nabbed an APC agent with a bag of cash as he was “inducing voters”.
Mr Okoye assured Ekiti voters of free, fair and credible election, and said 734,746 potential voters had collected Permanent Voter Cards as at May 27.
