Bayo Ojulari disclosed this while addressing a global audience from 150 countries at the opening of the Gastech Exhibition and Conference in Milan, Italy.
He said Nigeria was poised to deliver clean and sustainable energy solutions not just in-country but also across Africa and beyond.
He said there was need to cushion the impact of the high cost of transportation on the most vulnerable citizens.
“Nigeria will take its rightful position in the gas economy in the continent,” he stated.
Mr Ekpo issued the directive on Tuesday in Abuja at a meeting with stakeholders to address the skyrocketing price and its attendant hardship on Nigerians.
Mr Ekpo said the selection process was rigorous.
He added that the ministry would ensure the timely completion of the project as directed by President Bola Tinubu.
“It emphasises how dedicated the federal government is to increasing gas usage, broadening our energy sources and lessening our influence on the environment.”
Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), as the co-chairman of the NCDMB governing council.
Mr Lokpobiri said the petroleum sector had the solutions to the country’s problems in the short-term.
