Emomotimi Agama, SEC’s director-general, said this on Tuesday at the Nigeria Fintech Week (NFW) seventh edition in Lagos.
SEC says smart regulation is a catalyst for inclusive growth that ensures financial stability in a rapidly evolving ecosystem.
He assured investors and potential investors that the SEC was prepared to protect them.
He urged all participants in the market to play by the rules.
The Senate says it will tackle all issues of unclaimed dividends in the capital market with the collaboration of stakeholders.
SEC says it controls and regulates cryptocurrencies and other digital assets but admits it is impossible to “cage” it, describing it as “air.”
“So because we can’t stop them, you have to regulate it,” he said
The appointed members of the SEC are Emomotimi Agama, Frana Chukwuogor, Bola Ajomale and Samiya Hassan-Usman.
Mr Agama said the SEC would cooperate with EFCC to achieve national objectives of making sure that illegality was not allowed to thrive.
