The IRS chairman urged the people to join hands with the government to develop the state by paying their taxes regularly.
The government said a new date for the exercise would be made public as soon as possible.
Governor Peter Mbah says the federal government has begun the reconstruction of the collapsed Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway bridge.
“This is a heartfelt gesture by the governor who feels what you are going through.”
He explained that the little increase was part of the efforts of the current government to boost the revenue of the state.
Tipper drivers on Thursday took to Nsukka streets in protest over the state government’s increase in the daily fees charged to them from N500 to N1,000 per trip.
“The state is also blessed with significant deposits of minerals. In the area of petroleum, Enugu state has proven deposits of oil,” said Mr Mbah.
“The need to have our people recruited into the Force cannot be overstated.”
The state government said the centre would be a world-class venue in the entire South-East region and make the state capital an international city.
Mr Eta attributed poor water supply to some communities in the state to lack of maintenance and protection of the water installations.
