Mr. Shuaib said the government will organise a ceremony at the National Hospital on Friday, launching the 3.94 million vaccines received.
Vaccines would be handed to the NAFDAC team for analysis for two days.
The federal government had received the commitment of 1.5 million and 100,000 doses of AstraZeneca from MTN and India.
The NPHCDA chief explained that a hundred thousand doses of the Pfizer inoculation to Nigeria would have been “a drop in the ocean.”
Nigeria remains heavily reliant on handouts from the global COVAX scheme of the World Health Organisation.
The Nigerian government had notified citizens of an expected shipment of 100,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, due to arrive in the country late January.
“Maybe the Chief Imams, the Bishops, top musicians and our sports personalities,” he said.
100,000 doses of the vaccines expected to arrive the country later this month.
