FCTA said it crushed more than 470 motorcycles impounded for operating illegally in Abuja.
Ms Mahmoud stated this at the close of the Africa International Trade Exhibition Summit in Midtown, New York, United States of America.
The offenders were nabbed for parking in unauthorised areas, driving against traffic, and operating unregistered and unpainted taxis as well as illegal motor parks.
He pointed out the need for additional tertiary institutions in the nation’s capital to decongest the population in the FCT College of Education Zuba.
The motorcycles were impounded at strategic spots the riders use as their routes for operations.
Mustapha Suleiman, one of the occupants of the buildings, appealed for the meeting to be rescheduled to Friday and it was granted.
“We are going to consult the legal department to know the next action against the developer.”
“There is no day we don’t correct up to at least 50 riders as a result of one offence or the other,” he said.
The minister said that his mission was to make Abuja a great city, befitting the federal capital of the most populous nation in Africa.
Its head of operations, Deborah Osho, told newsmen during the raid that owners of the vehicles would also be prosecuted.
