The initiative is being implemented through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The minister noted that Lagos State occupied a unique and strategic position in Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.
Lagos farmers have expressed joy over the World Bank’s proposed $500 million loan to the Nigerian agriculture sector, while calling for appropriate implementation.
Inaugurating the distribution in Argungu, agriculture minister Abubakar Kyari said the package was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mr Kyari noted that smallholder farmers constituted about 90 per cent of Nigeria’s farming population.
Mr Ogunbiyi said ensuring food availability alone was no longer sufficient.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture, Muttaka Namadi, commended the federal government for the gesture.
The inputs were distributed through commodity associations, cooperative groups, farmers with special needs, and internally displaced persons.
The minister said, “We want to attain the objectives of the SDG, especially that of zero hunger.”
The association’s general secretary, Femi Oke, disclosed this in an interview on Wednesday in Lagos.
