At least 100 psychiatric doctors left the country to practise abroad in one year, says Taiwo Obindo, the president of the Association of Psychiatrists in Nigeria.
“One can say that an average Nigerian is put under pressure. More Nigerians are more distressed now than before,” said Mr Obindo.
Mr Owoeye said that a total of N601.63 million was expended on purchase of medications.
He said studies had shown that journalists could suffer from precarious trauma, which could lead to other mental health conditions if not identified and treated early.
“Angry people have a lot of little aches, pains or get a lot of colds, headaches and stomach upset.”
