He said that the roads all over the country are in a critical state, declaring that the primary need of Nigerians is good roads.
The House of Representatives Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency has pledged to revamp the agency to meet the needs of Nigerians.
Mr Preyor (PDP-Bomadi), who expressed concern over the ailing agency, said it should not be allowed to go into extinction.
“We commend FERMA for the drain construction project to control flood and ease flow of water,” he said.
The speaker also said that the house had passed people’s oriented bills and resolutions in its first 100 days in office.
The federal agency said part of what it was doing was “de-silting existing lined drains and constructing additional ones to ensure proper drainage.”
The FERMA boss said he had gotten reports of deplorable federal roads across the country, causing many inconveniences to road users.
The government said the roads were part of the planned road revolution across the 27 local government areas of the state.
Lawmakers say despite huge yearly allocations to FERMA, federal roads across Nigeria remains a death trap.
The senators said the rise in airfare has pegged the minimum one-way Economy Class ticket at around N80,000.
