The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it has arrested 17 suspects and destroyed 31,250 kilogrammes of cannabis in Osun.
After many years of “wearing the toga of invincibility, the overall head of the Mushin, Lagos drug cartel, 57-year-old Alhaji Sulaiman Jimoh,” has been arrested.
He said that the NDLEA operatives also arrested some of the suspects linked to them.
“NDLEA operatives, in a joint operation with men of the Nigerian Army, raided the area.
He said the drugs were seized following credible intelligence and tracking of the consignments from their port of departure by a special operations unit of NDLEA.
“Before any state contingents leave for a tournament, there must be a drug test, and we will take this evangelism to our sporting men and women,” the NDLEA commander said.
The agency said it was getting to the root of the problems associated with drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi said operatives raided the shrine after detecting a specially constructed large hole storage in a wall covered with wallpapers and fetish objects.
