Ex-Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo, alongside Jay-Jay Okocha, Finidi George, and other African football legends, will feature in the African Legends United Gala Match.
The recent development has forced the NFF to shift plans, appointing Augustine Eguavoen as the interim head coach for the crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have been drawn in Group D of 2025 AFCON qualifiers alongside Benin Republic.
To address the Eagles’ recent struggles, the NFF has announced that a foreign coach would be hired for the team.
“This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space the more.’’
“I think from reliable sources Finidi feels he won’t get the support of the Nigeria Football Federation going forward.’’
There were unverified reports that Finidi allegedly named Osimhen as one of the players not committed to the national team.
“Finidi tendered his resignation on Thursday and said he was not hungry and they should bugger off,” an NFF official told Peoples Gazette Saturday afternoon.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have not won a single game in their World Cup qualifiers under Finidi George.
In the qualifiers, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will tackle South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
