In separate interviews on Sunday in Abuja, the bank customers said the move negated the financial inclusion initiative of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
A statement by the board of the bank in Abuja on Monday said the appointment followed the resignation of the former CEO, Adesola Adeduntan.
A bank official, who preferred anonymity, said they were short of the new notes, adding that the bank was dispensing according to what they received from the CBN.
The funds were proceeds of sale of various spiritual materials and items belonging to the church, police prosecutor said.
