Mr Abbas described the new theatre as a major milestone for the Navy’s medical services.
The exercise, flagged off by the flag officer commanding, Chidozie Okehie, was conducted at the Nigeria Navy Ship VICTORY jetty in Calabar.
The flag officer commanding, Suleiman Ibrahim, hosted a high-level meeting with maritime stakeholders and industry partners on Wednesday.
The navy also expressed its personnel’s readiness to support efforts to address security challenges nationwide whenever required.
The FOC said that innovations and human capacity development were crucial to the Nigerian Navy.
The ex-commandant said this was against 889,890 barrels saved from thieves between January and December 2022.
Mr Okorie said the items would be handed over to the appropriate agency for prosecution.
“We believe that the destruction of these jerrycans is one of the ways to stop this crime.’’
“We have established the fact that the vessel and her crew are complicit in the crime of economic sabotage.”
The House of Representatives members said the navy has done well with the little resources available to it.
