NIMET identified 30 states that would likely experience heavy rains and possible flooding.
The official death toll currently stands at 217, of which 213 are in the province of Valencia alone.

He emphasised the need for collective efforts to build resilience against flooding, which had become an annual challenge for many communities in Nigeria.

Mr Abiodun said the gesture was aimed at assisting the flood’s victims.
He expressed deep sympathy for those affected by the floods and called on the people of Borno to unite in prayer.
Mr Abubakar commended the initiative, stating it would entrench proactive measures against disasters rather than just reactive ones.
The report said 5,216 households were experiencing water shortages due to power outages and water pipe damage.
He added that “all the relief items were delivered by the minister of agriculture and food security at the weekend.”
