The former Anambra State governor noted borrowings are destructive especially when done for consumption rather than production.
“How can a president make such a categorical promise and, mere hours later, the nation continues to count the dead across multiple states?” said Mr Obi.
Mr Obi said leadership must extend beyond official appearances.
The decision followed Mr Kwankwaso’s series of engagements with ADC stakeholders and other opposition figures in recent weeks.

“The ruling class are instead devastatingly more preoccupied with how to snatch, grab, and run away with the next election,” Mr Obi alleged.
Mr Obi has said that he and other opposition politicians will accept the winner of the 2027 presidential election if the results are transmitted in real time.
“Every loss of innocent life is tragic, and these killings represent a major failure for us as a nation,” said Mr Obi.
Mr Obi further urged Mr Tinubu to stand before Nigerians and clarify the reasons for his absence.
“A standard ambulance costs about ₦150 million. Nigeria spent ₦39 billion refurbishing the National Conference Centre in Abuja…,” Mr Obi noted.
