Pakistan’s jailed former prime minister Imran Khan has called for fresh protest after he was indicted on the charges of inciting attacks on the military.
This brought about the tragic loss of hundreds of supporters, and the rest were arrested and forced to flee.
The prime minister’s office said the first tranche of nearly $1.1 billion U.S. would be released immediately.
Judge Mohamed Zulqarnain said Mr Khan must be kept in jail until September 13, lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha said.
The former premier faces charges of theft of expensive gifts he received from other countries during his time in office between 2018 and 2022.
Hundreds of protesters also blocked the M2, one of the busiest transport arteries connecting Punjab with the capital Islamabad.
