In a nationwide broadcast on Monday, Mr Tinubu said money saved from subsidy removal will be used for the benefit of citizens.
He said he was fully aware of the effects of the removed petroleum product subsidies on the government and its people.
Either petrol or natural gas, Nigeria will have to choose one fossil energy source to subsidise to encourage manufacturing and trade.
The politician believes Nigeria won’t surmount the problems even if Mr Tinubu distributes N50,000 to every family.
The residents made the call in separate interviews with newsmen on Saturday.
“Similarly, government would work out measures to provide shuttle buses to students of tertiary institutions at affordable costs,” Mr Buni said.
He added that the N5,000 stipend for the poor under former president Muhammadu Buhari’s regime was much appreciated.
According to him, this is a wrong impression and the public needs to be re-oriented on this perspective.
The lawmakers said that their salaries and allowances can no longer meet the demand of their job, hence the call for a review.
