Ms Adeoye said the project aimed at expanding educational opportunities for inmates.
The federal government has called for stronger public-private partnerships to drive sustainable reforms across correctional centres.
“The time for urgent, coordinated action on the state of corrections in Nigeria is now,” the group said.
”We also call on the public to pay more attention to issues concerning corrections in Nigeria.”
Mr John said that the initiative would contribute hugely in reducing insecurity in Nigeria.
“I propose considering the sale of underutilised assets, particularly the correctional centres, located in prime areas,” said Mr Ajulo.
Stakeholders in the correctional sector have called on state governments to formulate and implement laws to aid in decongesting the prisons.
Mr Idris said removing the criminal conviction portion on employment forms will curb discrimination and stigmatisation against ex-offenders.
