The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said 205 people were killed in 231 road traffic crashes between January and November in Kano.
He explained that the support from NOMAP would further strengthen the capacity of the state.
Both were elected unopposed by members of the legislature.
Mr Akum would replace Aliyu Ahmed, the state’s Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs.
“His Excellency looks forward to the speedy consideration and confirmation of the nominee,” the speaker said.
He urged the committee to thoroughly investigate the alleged sales of government properties by the immediate past administration.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
“Sooner or later, Governor Abdullahi Sule will send a bill for the Establishment of Anti-corruption Bureau to the house.”
The speaker also urged the committee members not to compromise while performing their oversight functions.
