He described Islam as a religion of peace which focuses on spirituality and helping the less privileged in society.
Mr Shettima made the call during an Iftar hosted by Mr Tinubu for Senate leaders at the new State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.
“We are basically the same (Muslims and Christians), and we must find a way to make things work together in this country,” the CAN president asserted.
The event commenced with the Maghrib prayer led by the Chief Imam of the Villa, Mallam Abdulwahid Suleiman.
“Those who engage in societal vices during this sacred month will be dealt with. Some of the youths who eat in public during the fasting period will not be spared either.”
The convict had been charged with gross indecency, causing grievous hurt and attempting to commit culpable homicide.
