The ministry, in collaboration with the police, rescued the 12 girls, some as young as 15 years, in a raid at a guest house in Amawbia on June 18.
“The girl sustained a lot of injury in all parts of her body and, as a result, was billed for emergency surgery in the head.
She said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal and Investigation Department of the police command in Anambra, where the suspect would be charged to court.
The suspect had been detained for child molestation and abuse and would be charged in court.
“Women fight against fellow women and even partner men to perpetrate the evil for material gains,” said the commissioner.
Meanwhile, the Anambra Government has said that it has a facility to take care of victims of trafficking.
Ms Ezeonwumelu lamented that the majority of persons with albinism (PWA) had no access to treatment due to poverty and misconceptions about albinism.
The state government said it’s ready to partner with organisations to protect the interest of vulnerable children in Anambra.
