He held that only INEC could initiate and maintain criminal proceedings for offences under the Electoral Act, 2022.
Mr Akpabio stated, “Those seats are declared vacant. I urge INEC to conduct elections in line with the constitution to fill those vacancies.”
The letter indicated that the three Resident Electoral Commissioners were suspended for misconduct since March 2022 before the advent of the current administration.
He advised political parties to forward their schedule of activities for the election to the commission.
The judge directed parties to respect the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which earlier affirmed Mr Abure as the national chairman of the LP.
He said elections in Nigeria require adequate funding.
Mr Yusuf said virile opposition was important for the survival of any democracy.
INEC is to review the use of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) as the sole means of identification for voter accreditation on election day.
Mr Ajayi expressed confidence that the tribunal would deliver justice in the case.
