“Environmental compliance is not optional,” Mr Barikor stated.
Mr Barikor said there were extant government policies that provided a strong background for carbon capture, utilisation and storage.
The government says it will begin enforcing the ‘Producer Pays Principle’ in the beverages and packaging sector to encourage a circular economy and environmental sustainability.
According to her, the company was discharging untreated wastewater.
Mr Barikor said that plastic waste management in the country had become a national priority.

Ms Ejiofor noted that the severity of the emissions posed an immediate threat to the surrounding ecosystem.
Mr Barikor said the task before stakeholders was to review the current state of waste management in the FCT.
The director-general of NESREA, Innocent Barikor, lamented the declining donkey population in Nigeria and warned that they are gradually going extinct.
“The enforcement action was taken as a necessary first step to safeguard lives and restore environmental integrity,” said the NESREA boss.
