The minister’s aide said that despite the market’s closure since Friday, May 5, there were still refuse in different locations within the market.
The FCTA recently warned that indiscriminate activities of PoS operators, especially on the streets and in non-commercial areas would no longer be condoned.
The team members were drawn from different Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDGs) of the administration.
Mr Ahmad added that those that were arrested with hard drugs and other substances during the operation would be handed over to the police.
The illegal structures erected in swampy areas were inhabited by over 1,000 petty traders, comprising young men, women, middle aged and the old.
Over 500 houses, warehouses, and worship centres were removed from the affected area.
Mr Attah revealed that during the exercise, some arrests were made of people carrying illicit drugs.
The minister’s aide said it was unfortunate that people were buying land from IDPs and building on swamps and waterbeds.
