He noted that the CRU was not established to witch-hunt any police officer but to promote accountability in the police.
According to him, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has said that promotion will now be based on merit and seniority.
He solicited support of the Kano state government in order to succeed, with Kano being one of the pilot states.
In his motion, the lawmaker noted that the violent attack by hoodlums in South Eastern Nigeria had assumed a very dangerous trend.
He said that he would also visit some parts of the state as part of his assessment tour.
“Plateau under my watch will soon be home for all,” he declared.
On his part, Mr Egbetokun said he was enthusiastic and ready to handle the new task with dedication.
“The statements were clearly admissions by the Senator, that he did attempt to, and/or actually perverted the course of justice.”
He made the commitment on Monday in his maiden press briefing on his assumption of office as the 42nd commissioner of police in Ondo.
