The clash resulted in the death of two police officers and three sustaining serious injuries. Three patrol vehicles were set ablaze by the Shiites during the clash.
Mr Abiodun noted that the vehicles and ultra-modern drone facilities would assist in combating crime in the state.
He said the deployment was in recognition of peaceful protest.
He called on the CBN governor to focus on his job rather than dwelling on trivialities.
The police spokesman urged the public to remain calm and vigilant.
He said the armed robbers were traced to their hideouts, where two of them were neutralised and four others arrested.
The senator said that despite the efforts by security agencies, a lot needs to be done in tracking and apprehending the kidnappers.
Mr Egbetokun commended other security operatives for adequately supporting the Nigeria Police Force during the elections.
“I will recommend to government the need to increase the annual intake of personnel into the force from 10,000 to 20,000, starting from 2024,” he said.
He also said there would be no more special promotions in the Force.
