The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has announced plans to establish six new detective colleges across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
This development followed nationwide outrage after 32 minors aged between 10 and 17 were prosecuted on Friday.
The attacks ranged from harassment, intimidation, and unlawful detention to physical assaults.
Mr Egbetokun said it was part of an effort to promote a conducive learning environment and highlight the importance of strong security resilience in communities.
The case was therefore adjourned to November 8 for trial.
According to the statement, Mr Egbetokun also approved N2 million compensation for three injured officers.
“However, police operatives will be redeployed to these locations in the event of any crises or breakdown of law and order,” said a spokeswoman for the police.
