The Yobe government has inaugurated the Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) project to address the challenges internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities
The commissioner said the 3,698 IDPs, comprising 1,114 households at Baka camp, were moved to temporary homes constructed along Makurdi-Gbajimba Road.
He commended the Benue state government for ensuring the fair and transparent distribution of the materials.
Thirteen people were killed when bandits ambushed them on their way to their farms in Anguwan village.
“The project will support 300 IDPs in Plateau with inputs, cash grants and labour costs,” he said.
Laurent De Boeck, chief of the IOM mission in Nigeria, stated this in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja.
The task force made the declaration shortly after an on-the-spot visit to the displaced communities, including Mangu, Bokkos, Barking Ladi, Riyom, and Bassa.
Mr Mutfwang said his administration constituted a resettlement task force to ensure the safe return of IDPs to their ancestral homes.
“We have been displaced and suffering here in Bagaji-Odo due to lack of food and a conducive place to stay.”
“Time is running out for the authorities to effectively perform its legal responsibility of protecting people’s lives,” said Isa Sanusi.
