She described conflict-related sexual violence as a growing concern, worsened by banditry and displacement.
She said the initiative aimed to amplify women’s and youth participation in community decision-making.
According to her, the project has reached 2,000 people across Nigeria and Kenya.
She said the initiative formed part of efforts to empower girls through education.
The bill seeks to reserve additional seats for women in both the national and state assemblies to guarantee minimum representation.
She expressed optimism that the implementation of VAPP would help to eradicate gender violence in the state.
“The rape of women and girls is a serious violation of their human rights and an affront to their dignity.”
Attah Sisters Helping Hand Foundation (ASHHF), an NGO, has trained 10 paralegals to tackle sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in Bauchi.
“We want a fair and equitable society, where women can work wherever they choose.”
