Mr Tinubu departed Japan on Friday for Brazil, stopping over in Los Angeles, according to his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
Japan also named Nagai (Tanzania), Sanjo (Ghana), and Imabari (Mozambique) as hometowns for citizens from those countries.
Mr Tinubu will make a stopover in Los Angeles before proceeding to Brasília, the Brazilian capital.
