The Oyo State Hospitals Management Board’s chairman, Akin Fagbemi, said medical waste should be sorted at the point of generation into non-hazardous waste.
The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) reconnected the UCH on February 12 after over 100 days of power outage.
The UCH CMD told journalists that a spark at the changeover in one of the medical laboratories turned into fire.
IBEDC had disconnected the power supply to UCH over what it called technical faults and indebtedness.
The minister, who pledged transparency in the process, said the government will ensure that hospitals maintain the number of recruitments.
