They accused the state government of allegedly refusing to pay several years of unpaid entitlements.
The aggrieved staff members said the state government’s continued silence is unacceptable and unfair.
The protesting workers, led by the SSANU chairman and NASU chairperson, gathered at one of the halls in the institution.
He said that a payment of the agreement had been made in October 2024.
SSANU and NASU have threatened to shut down universities across Nigeria over withheld salaries.
Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), The Polytechnic, Ibadan, made the appeal on Thursday.
The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities has ended its seven-day warning strike over withheld salaries, threatening to take “drastic action” against the government.
Mr Okoh explained that within the two years of Mr Yakubu administration, he was able to introduce new research and training in leather science technology.
The tertiary institutions called for immediate payment of outstanding salaries, resumption of promotion implementation and annual increment.
They said the strike is now to commence on midnight of April 24, “pending when the government would have a change of heart on our demands”.
