The army spokesperson in Kano, Maj. Zubair Babatunde, said the bandits attempted to invade the communities on motorcycles while firing sporadically.
He noted that the items donated to the correctional centre were meant for the inmates.
Mr Tinubu, in November, declared a nationwide security emergency.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising security.
He said the residents of the affected communities had been living in fear due to the persistent attacks by bandits.
On Wednesday, a police checkpoint in Ohafia LGA was attacked by gunmen, and a police operative was killed and two others injured.
“Subsequently, more drastic measures, including suspension and withdrawal of the national driver’s license, will be carried out,“ the FRSC boss said.
“We remain resolute in winning all land, air and maritime battles especially in the area of operation, the southeast.”
Oil money, mixed with militancy and violent local politics in the area, has created and nurtured private armies with money, weapons and political clout comparable to rogue states.
He said no arrest had been made but that troops were currently on the trail of the operators of the seized vessel.
